To start off the 2005 Season in the Azores.
The crew:
The first mate is the captain's right-hand man. The second mate is in charge of the comfort of the guests. Tum and Zora, the captain's two dogs, are responsible for the security of the boat – A colourful family!
What to expect:
To be a guest is very simple. For people, that spend a vacation on Fajal or Pico, we offer the opportunity for half-day or full-day sailing-trips. Even for novices a first sailing experience on a cat is a pleasure, no matter, how the wind blows.
The captain and the first mate handle “Simile” and the second mate looks after the comfort of the guests. An introduction about the safety and behaviour on board is given before every trip as part of the procedure. Sailing along the beautiful coast, makes you curious about the history and the people of these islands and there are a lot of stories to tell.
With a fine wind a wave-picnic is a nice possibility. We offer nonalcoholic drinks for free, alcoholic drinks can be purchased, but depending on the weather and safety they can be limited.
Booking:
On a half-day-trip you can choose between “Coastal-cruise” between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. or “Sunset-cruise” between 5.30-9.30 p.m.
The booking can be done spontaneously by phone, by e-mail or personally on board in the old part of the marina, where “Simile” is docked.
Guests from Pico can just take the ferry for 3 Euro to come to Fajal. Simile's departure and arrival times can be adjusted to suit to the ferry-schedule.
The experience:
The adventure is about leaving port together, to set sail and become one with the wind and the waves. For a few hours everybody belongs to the small world of the “Simile”. The wind will decide the destinations, and they all have something unique to offer. Especially along the south coast of Pico or Fajal its worth stopping in one of the sheltered bays. Of course there will always be a fishing line trawling behind the boat and when the catch is really good, there's likely to be a barbecue in the evening.
Prices:
Coastal or Sunset cruises will cost 47 Euros per person, and for kids from 10 to 14 years of age 20 Euros. Whole-day-trips will cost 85 Euros per person and kids 35 Euros. And everything else, like for example whole-day-trips and birthday or other parties, can be arranged although the season.
